This research investigates the perceptions of fifth grade students from Colegio Pumahue Curauma in relation to the use of the MP4 device as a resource for developing listening comprehension skills for the Movers Young Learners Exam. 35 students participated in a pedagogical intervention using the MP4 for developing listening comprehension skills. Students’ perceptions regarding low-tech devices were first collected by means of a questionnaire. During the intervention sessions they were asked to fill in a journal entry to reflect on their performance for carrying out YLE Movers listening tasks using an MP4 device. Finally, a second questionnaire was administered in relation to the use of the MP4 in their learning process. The data obtained from the questionnaires was qualitatively analyzed by means of descriptive statistics. A qualitative analytical method was followed for the analysis of the journal entries. The main findings demonstrate that the students perceived the use of the MP4 for developing listening skills as useful and motivating for their learning process; however, further research is required to confirm the use of in class hightech devices for developing listening skills in young learners.
