Abstract
There are different techniques in order to support the soils in underground construction. The objective of this investigation is to analyze two of the more used methods for underpinning and shore, used in the country. The choice of the more appropriate system, has a direct relation with soil "kind" and the own structural characteristics of each project. As first system in study there are the mechanically drilled pile, which is a fast, safe and high quality system, but it means high expenses. This system is recommended when the construction spot has complexes soils, or the drilling operation depth is higher than 15mt of depth, among others. In the other hand there are the underpin "heaps-pads", this system is a handmade one and it is one of the more used in the central region of the country due to the low associated cost among other systems and the functional possibilities that it gives, like allowing the underpin of boundary terrains. This work presents the construction processes, costs and the difference between the both methods.
