There are a diverse number of pathologies that affect the gastrointestinal system. Among them are constipation and Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) being as common in our population as they are in the rest of the world. Both have similarities in their diagnose performance by their signs and symptoms and in their treatments, which are being conducted mainly through drugs and habits changes. In recent years, other treatments have been encouraged to be used, such as electro-stimulation, visceral massage in the gastrointestinal area, and finally, the incorporation of physical activity. The following study was developed with the purpose of knowing the effects of the Yoga method as a complementary treatment of physical activity for the pathologies of the gastrointestinal system, specifically for constipation and IBS. By reviewing multiple studies, it has been acknowledged that exercises based on the Yoga method, through the activation of the pressure receptors, can stimulate the parasympathetic nervous system, achieving similar results to those of visceral massage, which is a decrease in the symptoms of constipation and IBS.
