Society advances at unsustainable rates. Every day the production of all kinds of products that we also consume increases at breakneck speed. On the other hand, and although we are more or less used to recycling, now is the time to learn another way to contribute to the sustainability of the planet: energy efficiency. Energy efficiency seeks to protect the environment by reducing energy intensity and accustoming the user to consume what is necessary and no more. The CO2 emissions that we send into the atmosphere are increasing and, for this reason, energy efficiency has become a way of taking care of the planet. In this investigation, the thermal envelope of the F-134 Ninquihue school was analyzed. Which is located in the town of Ninquihue in the commune of San Carlos, Ñuble region. For this, the different loads that make up the thermal envelope were taken into account, in the first instance the loads per envelope are calculated, for this it is necessary the temperatures of the coldest three months of the year, in addition to this the building is modeled, by means of the Revit 2019 software, to identify the areas where there are the greatest energy losses. In the same way, the theoretical calculation of the loads per envelope was carried out, to obtain later, together with the other loads, the energy balance of the school. According to the calculations made, the greatest energy loss at the Ninquihue F-134 school is those associated with the envelope (Q ̇c) and the sensitive load by ventilation (Q ̇vs), which is why it is necessary to minimize the losses generated for these loads, proposing a solution that implements the installation of air curtains at each entrance to classrooms. Subsequently, the total thermal balance (Q ̇t) of the Ninquihue F-134 school corresponds to -77.59 [kW] of the energy loss. With the implementation of the proposed solution, the total thermal load was decreased by 56%, reducing the total thermal balance to -33.89 [kW]. This solution is convenient due to the price, which is associated with a cost of $ 1.664.000 and it also recovers its investment in approximately 1 year.
