This research was done by undergraduate students at the Universidad Andrés Bello aims to support a theoretical contribution to the institution and to qualify for adegree in social work. Our objective is to analyse the variations caused by the COVID-19 pandemic in the internal dynamics of families living in extreme poverty and vulnerability, belonging to the Registro Social de Hogares Nacional. For this purpose, qualitative methodology was used to saturate and study the data obtained from in-depth interviews conducted with five women head of household belonging to the sample unit, under selection criteria of convenience. The recorded data was examined by using the technique of manifest content analysis, seeking to identify the trends expressed in their narratives and experiences. In this way, we give an account of the objective results of the research and show whether the theoretical assumptions are accepted or can be modified, in order to make contributions to the discipline of social work to thosewho may benefit from this research. The main trends found, allow to show that the families under study would have presented changes in their family dynamics since it was possible to realize that in most cases there was a presence of existing dimensions in each of the research topics, where in addition showed that protective and risk factors are vital in the family cycle given their relevance in the daily life of the families under study. These conclusions give rise to new proposals for family intervention and suggestions that will serve as a contribution to anyone who uses this material as a basis for recognizing present and important factors to intervene in the field of social intervention.
