Abstract: The idea of man as an end in himself is one of the most important of Kant's standings in
ethic rnatters. A wrong interpretation could neutra1ize the deep moral
dimensions ofthis foundation ofhuman dignity. In the present article, the author intends to show,
that the way in which Spaemann understands the idea of man as an end in himself, let us overcome the
problems that come from Kant's ethic in itself and to defend in a substantial way the dignity of al!
men.
