Objective: To evaluate the color stability of microhybrid and nanofiller resins stained with tea under different surface treatments. Materials and methods: 200 discs resins were classified in eight groups according to: resin type (microhybrid or nanofiller), usage of glycerin, to inhibit surface oxygen and polishing method (Sof-Lex or Enhance). After this, they were immersed in distilled water for 24 hours at 37°C. The discs were immersed in a tea solution for a period of 10 minutes daily for two weeks, followed one brushing per day. The color was registered following: prior to exposure to tea (T1), after seven days (T2) and finally to fourteen days (T3), through Vita Easyshade spectrophotometer with Cie Lab color scale. The stadistic model used was an ANOVA and LSD Fisher, using the software Statgraphics Centurion XVII.I. Results: A significate difference was found among the eight groups in the times T1- T3 (P < 00.5), with significant differences between the 2 types of resins, having less color variation Filtek Z350 XT resins. Both Filtek Z250 and Filtek Z350 XT resins, the surface treatment showed less susceptibility to color variation was using glycerin and polishing Sof-Lex system. Conclusion: The type of resin and type surface treatment affects the grade of tea staining resins.
