The present study involves the development of listening skill, focused on two strategies; metacognitive and cognitive. The purpose of this investigation is to find out if the results of a standardized exam improve with the help of the use of listening strategies in an EFL context. The project entails students from a vulnerable state school and complex background, who improved their results. The data gathered was mixed method, having both qualitative and quantitative parameters. The predominant method for this study is action research, since it gave space and time to measure the final results of the development of the listening strategies in a period of ten lessons- approximately one month of interventions.
