Laguna.
Laguna Sausalito is located in a central area of Viña del Mar city, which belongs to the region ofValparaiso, Chile. It's an artificial dam which houses a large number ofspecies of flora and fauna, becoming one of the few green spaces in the area. Its location transforms it into a place frequented by the residents of the region, who visit it mainly with recreational purposes and to be in touch with nature. Dueto the lagoon's location next to the center ofthe town, the ecosystem is affected by anthropic impacts, such as constructions on the edge of the lagoon, accumulation of garbage in the streams that drains water into the dam, the surroundings of the lagoon, and in the same dam. The idea of making an environmental education program emerges due to these environmental problems. Through an environmental analysis, field visits, meetings with community stakeholders and applying surveys to the visitors ofthe lagoon, the lagoon and its immediate surroundings is established as the conservation target, in order to mitigate the impacts to which the dam is exposed. Then, based on this target, the educational goal and objectives of the program were established, and the activities were orientated so that the development of the program's objectives were fulfilled. Subsequently, by a testing experience the program was validated. Sorne adjustments were made to the activities and a script was elaborated to define the topics to be discussed in and between each station and to provide support to the educator. Finally, it's concluded that the lake has great natural and historical value to the city, which has been overshadowed by the various environmental irnpacts to which it is exposed. The analysis of the different surveys applied indicate that there is a commitment to the environment and to the lagoon, and they show interest in participating in initiatives that contribute to the conservation of this area. Environmental education emerges as a fundamental tool to educate and encourage behavior changes in the visitors which would lead them to act on behalf of the preservation of this ecosystem, compromising the community in finding solutions to mitigate environmental problems that are currently affecting Laguna Sausalito.
