El borde costero es un lugar de transición entre el ecosistema terrestre y marino, cuya fragilidad se expone, frecuentemente, a la actividad turística que allí se desarrolla.
En el sector entre Cachagua y Horcón, V región de Valparaíso, se identifican dos áreas que presentan una importancia ecológica reconocida a nivel local, regional y nacional: Monumento Natural Isla De Cachagua y el Sitio Prioritario De Conservación de Biodiversidad Acantilados al norte de la quebrada de Quirilluca a Horcones. En la presente tesis se propone desarrollar la actividad de observación de avifauna en los lugares anteriormente descritos, como una forma de compatibilizar las actividades ecoturísticas con las del turismo de masas, de sol y playa, presentes en el área, y diversificar la actual oferta turística.
Para cumplir con el objetivo planteado se desarrolló una metodología que implica revisión de fuentes secundarias, visitas a terreno y entrevistas, obteniendo como resultado principal una propuesta de cinco puntos independientes que complementan el desarrollo de la actividad de observación de avifauna, dentro de los cuales se destaca la construcción de un sitio web (http://www.ecolitoral.cl), el cual colabora con la difusión de estos lugares.
Ahora bien, el desarrollo del ecoturismo puede contribuir con el desarrollo turístico de un lugar, pero asimismo, si no existe un manejo efectivo en el área y una planificación adecuada, las consecuencias se tornan negativas para el medio ambiente natural y cultural.
Conjuntamente, se debe considerar la importancia legal que tienen las medidas adoptadas por las entidades relacionadas con la protección de las áreas, donde, muchas veces, el interés económico prevalece por sobre el ecológico. Además, cabe reflexionar sobre las consecuencias que provocan la publicidad de estos lugares y el rol de difusores que cumplen los municipios que albergan dichas áreas.
The coast side is a place of transition between the earthly and marine ecosystem, whose fragility is frequently expose to the touristic activity which is develop there. Between Cachagua and Horcón, V región of Valparaíso, two areas that present an ecological importance in a local, regional and national level, have been identified: Natural Monument Island of Cachagua and the Priority Site of Conservation of Biodiversity cliff to the north of the gorge of Quirilluca to Horcones. In this thesis it has been propose the develop of the activity of birdwatching in places that have been previously mention, as a mode of compatibility among the ecotouristic activities with the tourist of sun and beach that are in the area and to diversify the tourist offer at the present. In order to achieve the planned, a methodology was develop that implicated to review second sources, trips and interviews, getting as a main result a proposal, which include five independent points that complemented the develop of the activity of birdwatching, where the design of a web site (http://www.ecolitoral.cl) that contribute with the diffusion of these places stands out from the rest. The develop of ecotourism can contribute with the touristic development of a place, but as well, if there is not an effective management of the area and an adequate planning, the consequences can torn negative for the natural and cultural environment. Moreover, it has to be consider the legal importance of the measurement adopted for the entities connected with the protection of the areas, where, many times, the economic interest is more important than the ecological. Besides, it might be necessary to reflect on the consequences of publicity in those places, and the rol of diffusers of the counsils in charge of those areas.
