Ítem Association of agility with body composition and lower-extremity explosive muscle strength in young female tennis players(Federacion Espanola de Docentes de Educacion Fisica, 2023-02) Luna-Villouta, Pablo; Flores-Rivera, Carol; Paredes-Arias, Marcelo; Vásquez-Gómez, Jaime; Matus-Castillo, Carlos; Hernández-Mosqueira, Claudio; Hermosilla, Néstor Jofré; Vitoria, Rodrigo VargasThe objective of the research was to analyze the relationship between agility indicators with body composition and lower-extremity explosive muscle strength in young female tennis players. The study was observational, cross-sectional, correlational, and with descriptive characteristics. The sample consisted of 22 young Chilean tennis players (15.3±0.7 years old), selected in a non-probabilistic sampling for convenience. Anthropometric variables of weight, height, skin folds (triceps brachial, anterior thigh, and medial leg) and perimeters (arm, thigh, and leg) were measured. Body fat percentage (GC) and skeletal muscle mass (MME) were calculated. In addition, physical performance tests were applied; 505 with stationary start test (505), modified agility test (MAT), horizontal jump (SH), countermovement jump (CMJ) and Abalakov jump (ABK). The results showed that the agility tests (MAT and 505 tests) are better associated with the SH, 505 test (R2= 34% p<0.01) and MAT test (R2= 22%; p<0.05), in addition, for each centimeter of increase in the SH there is a decrease in the execution time of both agility tests (β=-0.02 s). On the other hand, the MME, GC, CMJ and ABK, do not show significant relationships with agility (p>0.05). It is concluded that agility shows a better association with the SH test in young Chilean tennis players, so that agility tests (505 and MAT) could be a specific method of evaluation in female tennis players. © Copyright: Federación Española de Asociaciones de Docentes de Educación Física (FEADEF).Ítem Creencias y prácticas sobre la perspectiva de género en el profesorado de Pedagogía en Educación Física en Chile(Federación Española de Docentes de Educación Física, 2023) Matus-Castillo, Carlos; Serra, Pedrona; Soler, Susanna; Vilanova, Anna; Flores-Rivera, Carol; Knijnik, Jorge; Luna-Villouta, PabloPhysical Education has been characterized by the reproduction of gender stereotypes and situations of inequality and discrimination. Likewise, teacher training is historically a masculinized area. By considering this context, this research had the following objectives: to analyze the beliefs and pedagogical practices on the gender perspective used by PETE lecturers; and to identify pedagogical practices with a gender perspective that could be used by PETE lecturers for the training of teachers in this career. The study was qualitative, using discourse analysis to process information from six focus groups with the participation of teacher educators from six Chilean public and private universities. The results have shown two predominant discursive positions among the teaching staff, the first of which was characterized by a greater sensitivity, awareness and openness to gender issues, both at the conceptual level and in pedagogical practices, and on the contrary, discourses were also identified that showed resistance and rejection of gender issues, both at the conceptual and methodological levels. The recommendations put forward by the participants to incorporate the gender perspective in this career focused on the design of the lesson plans and the contents of the subjects. © 2023 The authors.Ítem Effects of a Six-Week International Tour on the Physical Performance and Body Composition of Young Chilean Tennis Players(MDPI, 2023-01) Luna-Villouta, Pablo; Paredes-Arias, Marcelo; Flores-Rivera, Carol; Hernández-Mosqueira, Claudio; Vásquez-Gómez, Jaime; Matus-Castillo, Carlos; Zapata-Lamana, Rafael; Faúndez-Casanova, César; Jofré Hermosilla, Néstor; Villar-Cavieres, Natalia; Vargas-Vitoria, RodrigoIn tennis, it is common for young male tennis players to spend several weeks away from their local training camps during the competition season, which could affect their performance. The purpose of the study was to analyze the effects of a six-week international tour on physical performance and body composition in young Chilean tennis players. Twenty-four men between the ages of 14 and 16 participated in this research. In body composition and anthropometric measurement, body weight, height, skinfolds, and perimeters were measured. Body fat percentage (BFP) and skeletal muscle mass (SMM) were calculated. For physical performance, 5-m and 10-m sprints, modified agility test (MAT test), countermovement jump (CMJ), and medicine ball throw (MBT) were evaluated. Results show that, in body composition, BFP and SMM significantly decreased post-tour (p < 0.05; effect sizes ranging from 0.23 to 0.33, respectively). In physical performance, agility and 5-m and 10-m sprints significantly decreased (p < 0.05, effect sizes ranging from −0.63 to 1.10). We conclude that after a six-week international tour, BFP, SMM, agility, and speed (linear sprint) tend to decrease significantly, with a greater effect in the sprint tests. © 2023 by the authors.Ítem Estimated Oxygen Consumption with the Abbreviated Method and Its Association with Vaccination and PCR Tests for COVID-19 from Socio-Demographic, Anthropometric, Lifestyle, and Morbidity Outcomes in Chilean Adults(MDPI, 2022-06-01) Vásquez-Gómez, Jaime; Faúndez-Casanova, César; de Carvalho, Ricardo Souza; Castillo-Retamal, Franklin; Reyes, Pedro Valenzuela; Concha-Cisternas, Yeny; Luna-Villouta, Pablo; Álvarez, Cristian; Godoy-Cumillaf, Andrés; Hernández-Mosqueira, Claudio; Cigarroa, Igor; Garrido-Méndez, Alex; Matus-Castillo, Carlos; Castillo-Retamal, Marcelo; Ribeiro, Ivana LeaoCOVID-19 causes cardiovascular and lung problems that can be aggravated by confinement, but the practice of physical activity (PA) could lessen these effects. The objective of this study was to evaluate the association of maximum oxygen consumption (VO2 max) with vaccination and PCR tests in apparently healthy Chilean adults. An observational and cross-sectional study was performed, in which 557 people from south-central Chile participated, who answered an online questionnaire on the control of COVID-19, demographic data, lifestyles, and diagnosis of non-communicable diseases. VO2 max was estimated with an abbreviated method. With respect to the unvaccinated, those . who received the first (OR:0.52 [CI:0.29;0.95], p = 0.019) and second vaccine (OR:0.33 [CI:0.18;0.59], p = 0.0001) were less likely to have an increased VO2 max. The first vaccine was inversely associated with VO2 max (mL/kg/min) (β:−1.68 [CI:−3.06; −0.3], p = 0.017), adjusted for BMI (β:−1.37 [CI:−2.71; −0.03], p = 0.044) and by demographic variables (β:−1.82 [CI:−3.18; −0.46], p = 0.009); similarly occur for the second vaccine (β: between −2.54 and −3.44, p < 0.001) on models with and without adjustment. Having taken a PCR test was not significantly associated with VO2 max (mL/kg/min). It is concluded that vaccination significantly decreased VO2 max, although it did not indicate cause and effect. There is little evidence of this interaction, although the results suggest an association, sinceVO2 max could prevent and attenuate the contagion symptoms and effects. © 2022 by the authors. These competencies perform a crucial role in the efficiency and quality of the sport services provided to the community. The aim of this study is to analyse the assessments of the professional competencies of sport managers working in Chilean municipal sport services based on the Sport Manager Competencies scale. For this purpose, the instrument was applied to a sample of 417 subjects from 164 municipalities (out of 346) belonging to the 16 regions of Chile. The descriptive and inferential statistical analysis allowed us to conclude that municipal sports managers attribute high importance to the professional competencies presented in the instrument, such as "Promoting harmony among staff" and "Motivating staff or volunteers". No statistically significant differences were found between men and women. In relation to the characterisation of the municipal sport managers, it can be noted that the majority are men (76.7%) and aged between 30 and 59 years, and that 3 out of 4 have a university education. © Copyright: Federación Española de Asociaciones de Docentes de Educación Física (FEADEF).
