El Dorado Mine located in the Coquimbo region has a morphology typified as āCerro Islaā, its height is greater than 510 m.a.s.l which corresponds to āEl Doradoā hill, while the lower part is approximately 450 m.a.s.l. The mine is composed of volcanic rocks of Jurassic age, intrusive rock of Cretaceous age and sedimentary rocks of recent age. The theoretical framework of this project focuses on open-pit mining, specifically in the Cortas method. Relevant information is given on the unit drilling operations (types of drilling machines, drilling methods, etc.) and blasting (parameters, explosives present in the industry etc.) emphasizing the designs of drilling meshes and blasting methods proposed by different authors. With the aim of developing this project, the JkSimblast 2DBench software was used for the proposed mesh designs, generating graphs of particle size resulting from each case by means of the KUZ-RAM model and Peter Lilly's blastability index. Finally, based on the results obtained from the different blasting designs proposed, a cost analysis was carried out regarding each blast and how the project's mine cost is affected. The findings were favorable based on technical parameters and economically profitable designs.
