Purpose: The purpose of this study was to determine if there is an influence on the values of microtensile bond strength with an immediate dentin sealing (IDS) technique when a 2-step etch-and-rinse dentin bonding agent (Adper Single Bond 2) is used in making indirect composite restoration. Material and methods: Ten included third molars with complete crown formation a no dental malformation were obtained and divided into 2 groups of five teeth. Teeth will be worn on its occlusal surface until dentin at the middle third of the crown is reached. Samples from group A will be treated with the IDS protocol using a 2-step etch-and-rinse dentin bonding agent (Adper Single Bond 2), while in group B samples the standard cementation protocol will be applied. Provisionalization of the samples will be made using a light cured temporary restorative system (Systemp® Inlay) and the samples will be stored in saline for seven days within an incubator set at 37ºC. A layer of composite was applied to samples of each group, previous application of the adhesive system uncured, this is meant to simulate the cement used in indirect composite restoration. Then, the samples will be axially sectioned until obtain a total of 30 test subjects per each study group. The test subjects will go through a test of microtraction to evaluate microtensile bond strength. The obtained data were analyzed to the T-Student test. Results: According to the analysis means comparison of microtensile bond strength the p-value is 0.0182 (p <0.05), the mean of the group A (with SID) statistically significant higher than that of group B (without SID). The mean values of microtensile bond strength were: group A (with SID) 28.7 MPa and group B (without SID) 23.8 Mpa. Conclusions: The microtensile bond strength values on the dentine can be increased by using the Immediate Dentine Sealing (SID) technique using a 2-step etch-and-rinse dentin bonding agent (Adper Single Bond 2).
