Resumen
Desde que el hombre comenzó a utilizar instrumentos de metal, se enfrentó a la
corrosión pero con el avance del tiempo, los mayores conocimientos y un mejor
entendimiento de este fenómeno ha logrado defenderse mejor forma. Los países
industrializados invierten enormes sumas en la investigación y aplicación de nuevas
barreras de protección contra la corrosión.
Si bien, los costos y pérdidas causados por este fenómeno son el principal motivo que
impulsa las actividades en este campo, la disminución de la vida útil de los materiales
por acción de contaminantes en el ambiente y, a su vez, la contaminación de productos
y del medio circundante debido a la corrosión de los materiales en contacto con ellos,
son también problemas alarmantes que no pueden ser dejados de lado. La corrosión no
descansa, por ello tampoco pueden hacerlo la ciencia y la técnica que tratan de
prevenirla, desarrollando nuevos métodos y revestimientos cada vez más resistentes.
En las tuberías de acero ocurren los mismos fenómenos, pero en este caso además de
los ataques del medio se observa que los fluidos transportados pueden ser altamente
corrosivos o abrasivos.

Esto obliga a diseñar barreras (revestimientos), para lograr conseguir un ahorro notable
en los costos ocasionados por la corrosión por medio del aumento de la vida útil de la
tubería de acero, o mejorar el desempeño de ella (disminuir el roce).
Este estudio pretende ser una herramienta de selección del revestimiento polimérico
mas adecuado según las exigencias del uso de la cañería de acero.
Since the man began to use metal instruments, he taced the corrosion and, in spite ot the tact that with the advance ot the knowledge he has been able to detend more good ot her, it is a permanent problem. The industrialized countries invest enormous supreme in the investigation and application ot new protection barriers against the corrosion. Although, the costs and losses caused by this phenomenon are the main reason that impels the activities in this field, the decrease ot the usetul lite ot the materials for action ot pollutants in the atmosphere and, in turn, the contamination ot products and ot the surrounding means dueto the corrosion ot the materials in contact with them, they are also alarming problems that cannot be left aside. The corrosion doesn't rest, for it neither can make it the science and the technique that try to prevent it, developing new methods and more and more resistant linings. In the steel pipes they happen the same phenomenons, but in this case besides the attacks ot the means are with which the transported tluids can be highly corrosive or abrasive. This forces to design barriers (linings), to be able to get a remarkable saving in the costs caused by the corrosion by means ot the increase ot the usetul lite ot the steel pipe, or to improve the acting ot her (to diminish the close contact). This study seeks to be a tool ot selection ot the lining polymeric but appropriate according to the requirements ot the use ot the steel pipe.
