This research consists of a documentary, bibliographic process which presents a significant scientific rigor, provides important opportunities for knowledge related to the general state of the subject matter. The data presented are entirely qualitative, so the research can be considered interpretive, through which the cracking method for the change of pipe is explained, data collection techniques were used using filters that criteria inclusion and exclusion, in addition to the information search criteria. It has objectives that seek to determine the positive impact or advantages of the cracking method, the types that exist, as well as analyze the environmental impact of this method. For Arriaga (2005), this method consists of a technique to renew the pipeline on site or without a trench, which is used when the host pipe or mother pipe is damaged and the aim is to avoid large earth movements, reducing the breakdown of the asphalt, concrete a granular material and increase the diameter of the existing pipe while preserving its slope. With the use of this methodology, works are carried out in urban areas that are densely populated and consequently with high vehicular traffic, where the environmental impact is less when it is used.
