Introduction: Nursing professionals understand care management and science recognizes the importance of their actions at different levels of care and throughout the entire life cycle. Considering the legislative and scientific arguments that support the presence of nursing, it is necessary to study the existing reality of this group of professionals in dental care, together with defining the role they play and how they integrate into the interprofessional group for the establishment of care. Objective: Determine a model of care for the nursing professional during dental care. Methods: Systematic review. A critical review of the research derived from the search in 5 databases is carried out between April 22, 2021, and May 14, 2021. A total of 13,650 articles were obtained, selecting 6 studies for the development of this analysis. Conclusions: The presence of the nursing professional in dental care, during education and oral health care is evidenced. His participation in the field of security is also highlighted as part of quality, along with the contribution through his discipline to interprofessional work. Through this research, a model of care is proposed for the nursing professional who works in dental care, based on the theory of Faye Glenn Abdellah.
