This study sought to understand the representations of mentor teachers about the competencies required by students of pedagogy in physical education to satisfactorily carry out their professional practice. A qualitative methodology and a phenomenological design were determined. Data were collected with a semi-structured interview with 23 mentor teachers from educational schools in the Valparaíso, Chile. Content and discourse analysis were developed with the ATLAS.ti 9.
