La muestra serán 21 profesionales que trabajan en tres centros hospitalarios de la región metropolitana, y que sean parte del equipo multidisciplinario de la unidad. Existe un consenso dentro de los tres centros hospitalarios entrevistados, los cuales indican que la principal labor del fonoaudiólogo dentro de UPC es el manejo de la deglución, participando tanto en evaluación y rehabilitación de esta. Por otro lado, las áreas de comunicación y habla fueron escasamente mencionadas como áreas que se trabajen en UPC, ya que estas no implican riesgo vital, por lo cual tienen un tratamiento secundario, pudiendo ser tratadas por el fonoaudiólogo en unidades de menor complejidad o de manera ambulatoria, presentando por parte de los profesionales del equipo, un desconocimiento debido a la falta de promoción de la profesión, por esta razón la gran mayoría de los profesionales nombran la promoción y capacitación del rol del fonoaudiólogo en UPC al resto del equipo como algo necesario.Research Objetive: Determine the knowledge of the multidisciplinary team on the work of the Speech and lenguage therapist with in the critical patient unit and that you are part of the multidisciplinary team of the unit.
