La principal fuente de alimentación del Humedal corresponde a la descarga de RILes de la empresa Sopraval, cuyas aguas son tratadas a través de procesos fisicoquímicos, y biológicos y son descargadas en el Estero Los Litres. En las zonas circundantes al humedal existen también diversas presiones antrópicas que terminan incidiendo en el ecosistema, tales como; industrias, zonas agrícolas y expansión urbana. Debido a la falta de información existente del Humedal, se torna necesaria las investigaciones de este recurso ecológico, siendo el objetivo de este trabajo la caracterización de los parámetros físicos y químicos del “recién” nombrado Humedal Estero El Litre, a través de lo cual se podrá; establecer la calidad físico-química del agua del humedal, y así poder generar una línea base para los parámetros físicos y químicos, a partir de lo cual se espera aportar a su gestión, desarrollo y conservación para la comunidad. El procedimiento para lograr una caracterización fisicoquímica consistió en tres partes; la primera parte consistió en una recopilación bibliográfica, y un análisis del área de estudio; la segunda en un muestreo puntual para un posterior análisis en laboratorio para determinar diferentes parámetros fisicoquímicos que caractericen la calidad y estado de las aguas superficiales; y la tercera en la aplicación de índices de calidad de agua (ICA), índices de contaminación (ICO), y una comparación con los limites permisibles de normas nacionales e internacionales, con la finalidad de evaluar la calidad del agua.The study area includes the Estero El Litre Urban Wetland, which is located in the Valparaíso Region, Quillota province, between the communes of La Calera and Nogales, geographically extending in the Estero Los Litres or El Melón. The main source of supply for the Wetland corresponds to the discharge of RILs from the Sopraval company, whose waters are treated through physicochemical and biological processes and are discharged into the Estero El Litre. In the surrounding areas of the wetland there are also various anthropic pressures that end up affecting the ecosystem, such as; industries, agricultural areas and urban sprawl. Due to the lack of existing information about the wetland, investigations of this ecological resource become necessary, being the objective of this work the characterization of the physical and chemical parameters of the "recently" named Estero El Litre Wetland, through which may; establish the physical-chemical quality of the wetland water, and thus be able to generate a baseline for the physical and chemical parameters, from which it is expected to contribute to its management, development and conservation for the community. The procedure to achieve a physicochemical characterization consisted of three parts; the first part consisted of a bibliographic compilation, and an analysis of the study area; the second in a specific sampling for a subsequent analysis in the laboratory to determine different physicochemical parameters that characterize the quality and state of surface waters; and the third in the application of water quality indices (ICA), contamination indices (ICO), and a comparison with the permissible limits of national and international standards, in order to evaluate water quality. The only parameter that exceeded the permissible limits of Chilean and international standards were dissolved oxygen, suspended solids, and fecal coliforms, while the quality indices indicate that the wetland has fair-good quality, while the contamination indices they indicate a high contamination by mineralization and establish the state of the wetland as eutrophic.esTesis
