REPRESENTACIÓN Y NATURALEZA: REFLEXIONES ACERCA DEL SENTIDO DE LA IMITACIÓN DE LOS ANTIGUOS EN LA HISTORIA DEL ARTE ANTIGUO DE J. J. WINCKELMANN

Abstract

El presente artículo se propone reflexionar acerca del modo en que recepta Winckelmann el arte antiguo. En primer lugar, se reconstruye el contexto problemático en el cual se inscribe la apelación winckelmanniana al arte antiguo en términos de naturaleza. Posteriormente, se busca determinar el modo en que utiliza el autor algunas categorías provenientes de la historia natural (las nociones de molde interior y degeneración concebidas por Buffon) a fin de configurar un sistema doctrinal a partir de los restos dispersos del arte antiguo. En función de tal análisis, se intenta precisar, finalmente, el tipo de articulación que se establece, en el marco de la perspectiva winckelmanniana, entre los conceptos de historia, naturaleza y obra de arte.

This article proposes to reflect on the reception of ancient art developed by Johann Joachim Winckelmann. First, we reconstruct the problematic context in which is inscribed his appeal to ancient art in terms of nature. Subsequently, this article seeks to determine how the author uses some categories from natural history (the notions of moule intérieure and degeneration, developed by Buffon) in order to set up a system of doctrine from the dispersed remains of ancient art. From such analysis is to clarify, finally, the type of articulation that is established under Winckelmann’s perspective, between the concept of history, nature and art work.
