Esta investigación se ha centrado en analizar el desarrollo de competencias ciudadanas en alumnos de octavo año básico en relación a lo establecido por las bases curriculares del Ministerio de Educación de Chile en 3 establecimientos particulares subvencionados de Viña del Mar: Liceo Nuestra Señora de la Paz, Colegio Rubén Castro y Colegio Le Beau Jour. Para esto se realizó un estudio exploratorio descriptivo basado en un enfoque cualitativo de la investigación, realizando entrevistas semiestructuradas a docentes de todas las asignaturas de octavo año básico, a alumnos del mismo nivel y a directivos de cada establecimiento, para así conocer su percepción frente a la formación ciudadana. Además, se realizó un análisis documental a las Bases Curriculares para indagar la presencia de las competencias ciudadanas en el currículum nacional y su importancia para la sociedad actual.
Los resultados mostraron que el nivel de desarrollo de la formación ciudadana en los alumnos de octavo año básico se encontraba en un nivel óptimo, ya que cumplían con el perfil de ciudadano esperado. Sobre la gestión encontramos que se reconoció el valor del rol docente y de toda la comunidad educativa en su desarrollo y la percepción en cuanto a esta la gestión educacional, tanto de alumnos como docentes, fue positiva. Además, se reconoció la relevancia de participar activamente en las actividades pedagógicas referentes a formación ciudadana y lo vital que es contextualizarlas para la realidad actual de los alumnos.
This research has focused on analyzing the development of civic skills in students from eighth grade year in relation to the established by the curricular bases of the Ministry of Education of Chile in 3 private schools of Viña del Mar: Liceo Nuestra Señora de la Paz, Colegio Rubén Castro and Colegio Le Beau Jour. For this purpose, an exploratory and descriptive study based on a qualitative approach of the research was carried out, performing semi-structured interviews with teachers of all subjects of eighth grade, with students of the same level and with directors of each establishment, for, in this way, to know their perception towards civic education. In addition, a documentary analysis to the curricular guidelines to investigate the presence of civic skills in the national curriculum and its relevance to today's society was performed. The results showed that the level of development of the civic education, on students of eighth grade, was at an optimum level, since they fulfilled the profile of citizen expected. On the management we found that the value of the teacher's role and the entire educational community in its development was recognized; and the perception regarding this educational management, in both students and teachers, was positive. Furthermore, the relevance to actively participate in educational activities related to civic education and the importance that it is to contextualize to the current reality of the students was recognized.
