En Chile, la obesidad va cada día convirtiéndose en un problema de grandes magnitudes. Esta enfermedad es ocasionada mayoritariamente por la falta de actividad física y por malos hábitos alimentarios, siendo estos últimos los que tienen mayor importancia dado que el alto consumo de alimentos ricos en ácidos grasos y azúcares permiten una rápida acumulación de grasas en todo el cuerpo dando como resultado la obesidad.
El objetivo de este estudio fue conocer y relacionar el IMC con los hábitos alimentarios de los alumnos de ambos sexos del NB1 de tres establecimientos pertenecientes a la región de Valparaíso, específicamente al sector de Viña del Mar. Se aplicaron como variables el IMC y los hábitos alimentarios, siendo investigadas a través de la obtención del IMC y la encuesta de Hábitos Alimentarios (INTA), respectivamente.
Los resultados arrojados establecieron el estado nutricional de los alumnos, indicando que un importante porcentaje de alumnos se encuentra en riesgo de obesidad y en obesidad, a su vez dejó en evidencia que existe diferencias entre los IMC de las mujeres con respecto al de los hombres.
Otros resultados permitieron identificar los grupos alimentarios más consumidos por los alumnos: las grasas y los azucares, los cuales son consumidos en exceso
y están directamente relacionados con la obesidad y otras enfermedades que deterioran la cantidad y calidad de vida del ser humano.
In chile, every day the obesity is becoming a major problem. Mainly it is caused by lack of physical activity and poor eating habits and those causes are the most important. This is given for the high consumtion feeds rich in fatty acids and sugar that allows a rapid accumulation of fat in the body creating the obesity. The main point of this study was to relate and to know the BMI with the eating habits of students of both sexes of NB1 of three establishments that belong to the region of Valparaiso particularly Viña del Mar. The variables were applied as BMI and eating habits. The variables were investigated by the obtaining of BMI and the Survey of Eating Habits (INTA), respectively. The results that came out indicates an important percentage of students that present a risk of obesity or they are obese. It also clarified that exists differences between that BMI of women compared to men. Other results allowed to identify groups more food consumed by students: the fat sugars, which are consumed in excess and are directly related to obesity and other diseases that impair the quantity and quality of life human being.
