Resumen
Hoy en Chile al igual que el resto del mundo, el aumento de la población longeva va en
continuo crecimiento, es por eso que, las entidades tanto públicas como privadas crean
proyectos y programas de intervención para aportar y apoyar a los adultos mayores en
esta etapa de su vida, donde sus necesidades biológicas, cognitivas y sociales deben ser
cubiertas para lograr una mejor calidad de vida. Es fundamental que los adultos mayores
tengan acceso a programas que les ayuden a detectar y potenciar sus habilidades
cognitivas, puesto que estas se van limitando a medida que avanza la edad, indagar el
contexto del individuo a investigar, nos permite levantar información acerca de las
determinantes sociales y sus factores positivos y negativos. Un gran porcentaje de
adultos mayores no tienen la posibilidad de ser evaluados, o de adquirir herramientas
para fortalecer y mantener sus capacidades cognitivas; el poder evaluar permite detectar
posibles necesidades a ser abordadas desde el área de la psicopedagogía dentro del
centro de rehabilitación comunitaria (CENRECO).
In Chile, as well as in the rest of the world, the aging population is growing. For this reason, public and private entities create projects and programs to support the elderly in this stage of their lives, where their biological, cognitive and social needs must be tended to in order to safeguard their quality of life. It is essential that the elderly have access to programs that can help them detect and potentiate their cognitive skills, as these tend to diminish with age. Collecting data about the individual´s social context, allows us to gather information about social determinants and their positive and negative factors. An important percentage of the elderly don´t have access to being evaluated or to acquire the tools to strengthen and maintain their cognitive capacities; the opportunity that arises from evaluating allows for the detection of possible needs where learning specialized interventions can be carried out within the community rehabilitation center (CENRECO).
