Producto de múltiples factores culturales y económicos existe una pérdida de
conocimiento y valoración del patrimonio natural y cultural en las distintas
localidades de la Comuna de Coínco, en particular en las generaciones jóvenes en
etapa escolar.
Habiendo consenso indiscutible de la influencia e impacto de la educación formal en
el proceso de desarrollo de las comunidades locales; el investigador, utilizando los
principios del Ecoturismo como base, estructuró e insertó dentro de las escuelas de la
comuna de Coínco un breve programa de Educación Ambiental que incluye
Actividades al Aire Libre e Interpretación Ambiental como recurso pedagógico.
Todo lo anterior, a través del uso de la investigación acción, generó un impacto
positivo sobre los alumnos, que al término de la investigación manifestaron mayores
conocimientos sobre el patrimonio natural y cultural de sus respectivas localidades.
Además, a ello se suma un amplio aporte teórico que conecta aspectos relevantes del
Ecoturismo con la educación formal y sus bases teóricas que demuestran la
coherencia entre ambos ámbitos en el plano de la pertinencia social y en el potencial
de la Universidad para causar cambios relevantes a nivel de la creación de conciencia
y valoración del patrimonio natural y cultural en las nuevas generaciones de
escolares.
As a result of multiple cultural and economical factors, there is a loss of knowledge and appreciation of the natural and cultural heritage in the different towns of the commune of Coínco, especially among younger generations in school-age. There is an undeniable consensus about the influence and impact that a formal education has in the development process of local communities; the researcher, using the principies of Ecotourism as a basis, designed and incorporated in the schools of Coínco a brief program of Environmental Education which includes Outdoor Activities and Environmental Interpretation as a pedagogical resource. Taking into account all the above-mentioned and the use of action research resulted on a positive impact on the students, whom by the end of the research exhibited greater knowledge about the natural and cultural heritage of their corresponding towns. Furthermore, a major theoretical contribution that connects substantial features of Ecotourism with formal education and its theoretical basis that demonstrate the coherence between both the leve! of social relevance and the potential of the University to generate relevant changes in the creating awareness, appreciating the natural and cultural heritage aspects, by the new generations of students.
