Mercado, Propiedad Intelectual (Patente), Equipo Multidisciplinario, Liderazgo y
According to a study performed by the Ministry of Economy, Development and Tourism, in February 2016, there were 1,865,860 entrepreneurs in Chile. There are multiple areas in which an enterprise can be developed, biotechnology is one of them. In each stage of their life cycle, entrepreneurships have different financing alternatives. One of these are angel investors whom invest their own money at stages of high risk. How do angel investors in Chile choose which biotechnological entrepreneurship is worth to invest? What does it motivate their investment decision? The answers to these questions are important for entrepreneurs, business accelerating and universities to help in the development and application of the biotechnology in Chile. This study proposes the hypothesis of the existence of key factors that motivate the investment decision of an angel investor in a biotechnological entrepreneurship in Chile. Through the selection of a series of world-wide factors a survey was elaborated and applied to angel investors in Chile. The results obtained in this survey identified 6 key factors that angel investors in Chile consider before investing in biotechnological entrepreneurship (Big Market, Intellectual Property (Patent), Multidisciplinary Team, Leadership and the Entrepreneur Ethical Values). In order to facilitate the use of these 6 identified key factors a model was elaborated. This study pretends to serve as a guide, offering useful information, for institutions, incubators, entrepreneurs and investors that want to generate biotechnological entrepreneurship in Chile or to invest in them.
