Los resultados de la prueba estandarizada del Sistema de Medición de la Educación
(SIMCE) han demostrado evidencias de las dificultades de comprensión y fluidez lectora que
tienen los estudiantes de educación básica en Chile. Para abordar este problema educativo,
se diseñó un programa de intervención destinado a mejorar las habilidades de fluidez en sus
tres componentes (precisión, velocidad y prosodia). En el estudio preexperimental
participaron 30 estudiantes de primero básico de un colegio municipal de la región
metropolitana. Los resultados del análisis del pretest y postest muestran que el programa de
intervención logró una mejoría significativa en las medidas de precisión, velocidad y
prosodia. Se discuten los resultados obtenidos a la luz de las demandas de comprensión del
curriculo oficial y de los estudios previos en el área. Se mencionan las implicaciones de
dichos resultados para la práctica educativa y para la realización de nuevos estudios de
fluidez lectora.
The results of the standardized test of the Education Measurement System (SIMCE) have demonstrated evidence of the difficulties of reading comprehension and fluency that basic education students have in Chile. To address this educational problem, an intervention program was designed to improve the fluency skills in its three components (precision, speed and prosody). In the preexperimental study 30 students of first basic of a municipal school of the metropolitan region participated. The results of the pretest and posttest analysis show that the intervention program achieved a significant improvement in accuracy, speed and prosody measures. The results obtained are discussed in light of the demands of understanding the official curriculum and previous studies in the area. The implications of these results are mentioned for the educational practice and for the realization of new studies of reading fluency are mentioned.
