The relationship between maternity and work, in a labor context such as the one we are currently immersed in, which is usually very demanding and with a long work schedule, is a complex relationship. This is because the organization of working days, the intensification of work, salary levels, the availability demanded of workers, etc., seriously hinders the possibilities of articulating family and work, turning this task into a complex task and debilitating, especially for those people who, along with productive work, have in their hands the domestic and care work; those that are mostly women. This is why when defining the performance of the female role in the private space, the genre archetype establishes that motherhood is the main function that provides the status of women in society. Where the presence of women in the reproductive and productive spheres presses them at different moments of their trajectory to stay or move to work spaces organized in a more flexible way to harmonize reproductive and productive work. The present research will analyze the tensions that occur between motherhood and the academy that affect the career paths of professional women in the academy. Where the conclusion of each interviewee is that motherhood is not a problem within the academy, since this is a "cradle" of motherhood, the big problem that does not allow them to advance is gender inequality.
