preocupante a nivel pediátrico.
In the last 20 years there have been significant demographic, social and economic changes in our country that have contributed to modify eating behaviors and lifestyles of the population. This has led to a dramatic increase in the prevalence of CNCDs, pathologies among which obesity stands out, DM, insulin resistance, dyslipidemia, hypertension, cancer, among others. The augmentation of prevalence of these diseases has contributed to increase the CMR in the adult population, and more disturbingly ata pediatric level. The objective of this study is to determine the most practica! and effective method, as Physical therapists, to assess the status of CMR in a group of preadolescents from the Valparaíso region. This was achieved by measuring different indicators that act as risk factors for CMD. Evaluation methods were BMI, Waist to height ratio, Waist Circumference , Body composition in addition to hypertension, in a sample of 208 preadolescents between 9-13 years old, belonging to the Valparaíso region and associated with JUNAEB educational institutions. lt was concluded that for a Physical therapist the most precise way to determine the CMR in preadolescent is through evaluating body composition and Waist Circumference, as they are simple and effective methods for conducting clinical practice as a Physical therapist, being more effective than the methods commonly used such as BMI and Waist to height ratio. According to the results, over 50% of the population in this age range is in CMR, they exhibit elevated values in all the relevant indicators that determine the presence of a large CMR at early stages of life.
