Ítem The perceptions of a Down Syndrome student with respect to english language learning(Universidad Andrés Bello, 2018) Flores Miranda, Antonieta; Melej Gallardo, Ethel; Facultad de Humanidades y EducaciónThis research explores how a twelve-year girl with Down Syndrome, (DS) perceives and emotionally connects with the English subject at school. Moreover, the study aims to unpack the perceptions of other stakeholders within the participant’s nearest school/ personal context. A qualitative, interpretivist paradigm was chosen to unveil the complexities of the phenomenon through the participant’s perceptions, via interviews, observations and journals. The protagonist of this exploration, perceives the English subject as a happy, safe and fun zone., Theme analysis disclosed some robust elements regarding inclusion and integration within an EFL context While this study focused on one particular learner, data would suggest that the teaching of English as a foreign language is an engaging mean towards integration/inclusion in the explored setting. Considering the latest educational laws regarding the Chilean school system, this small study is expected to foster further research in a much needed field.
