Howevar, in the last decades this tapie has become a controversia! issue due to tha raising voices on the quality of education in Chile. This piece of research addresses the topic of TEFL methodologies in the Chi\ean educational context with special attention to the use of TEFL approaches and EL T materials that teachars currantly use in the language classrooms. To carry out this exploratory and descriptiva study, a mixed research method was implementad with a strong emphasis on action resaarch. For the purposes of this study, three different secondary: state-funded, subsidized, and private schools, were survayed so as to collect data on the impact that those TEFL methodologies had in the language learning process. Preliminary results show that students perceive the TEFL methodologies taught at the state-funded sector as the ones that need urgent intervention.
