Ítem Proposal for the recovery of waste cold energy in liquefied natural gas satellite regasification plants(2023-03) Simonetti Harlan J.; Pantoja Jenny M.; Matamala, Monica; Vasconez Juan P.; Briceno Inesmar C.; Larenas Roberto A.; Neira-Rodado, DionicioLiquefied Natural Gas (LNG) gasification is usually conducted with atmospheric vaporizers. In this process, there is a phase change at cryogenic temperatures from liquid to steam by an endothermic process, where the waste cold energy is lost. This wasted cold energy can be used in other processes (or strategic business units) that demand cooling, increasing energy efficiency. Energy efficiency will help companies be more competitive and environmentally friendly. Energy cost reduction may allow companies to increase their product portfolio, benefitting all the supply chain echelons. A technique to recover waste cold energy is proposed to improve the energy efficiency of a cold room. The proposed approach consists of four phases that recover between 30% -40% of the gasification process, in particular LNG flow conditions. These four phases are Basic design engineering, feasibility, and economic viability of the results of Basic Engineering, availability of equipment in the market, and assembly and operation. © 2023 Elsevier B.V..
