Ítem Examining learner perceptions of task-based language teaching within the Chilean university context : A case study(Universidad Andrés Bello, 2011) Owens-Hughes, Kimberlyn Casey; Veas Faúndez, Candy; Facultad de Educación y Ciencias SocialesThis study was designed to examine Chilean University students' perceptions towards an inclass intervention based on Task-Based Language Teaching methods. Twenty-six students across two different English IV courses were exposed to a one-hour lesson involving a series of three related tasks which required group work for their completion. Their perceptions were collected in a post-intervention survey and subsequent focus group discussions, and these were compared to the students' leaming styles, age, year of study, level of English, gender and previous experiences with English. The study's fmdings show that while the overall TBL T lesson was received positively by the students, certain issues regarding the organization of group work have yet to be resolved.
