Abstract
El aprendizaje integral al cual apunta la institución de educación superior UNAB, se
enfoca en el desarrollo de los alumnos en todas sus áreas, incluyendo la adquisición
de nuevo conocimiento por medio de la investigación. Se vuelve indispensable el
desarrollo de herramientas claves para el ejercicio profesional con una base científica
sólida, lo cual sumado al entrenamiento aportado por la facultad de Odontología,
permite un desempeño integral. Este estudio determinó el nivel de conocimiento de
docentes tutores de tesis y estudiantes tesistas acerca de la metodología de la
investigación, durante el período 2022 de la carrera de Odontología de la institución
antes mencionada. Para ello se realizaron encuestas on-line en ambas poblaciones,
con el fin de cuantificar, identificar y reconocer los ámbitos de mayor y menor
conocimiento del tema. Solo un 20% de los estudiantes y un 47% de los docentes
accedió a participar del estudio. Los resultados generales indicaron un promedio de
9.7 puntos en estudiantes y 13.7 en docentes, de un máximo alcanzable de 22 puntos.
Estos resultados dejan en evidencia la importancia de la tutoría y orientación docente
durante la configuración de los proyectos de investigación, así como también la
necesidad de reforzar el conocimiento en ambas poblaciones.
The comprehensive learning to which the UNAB higher education institution aims focuses on the development of students in all areas, including the acquisition of new knowledge through research. The development of key tools for professional practice with a solid scientific base becomes essential, which, added to the training provided by the Faculty of Dentistry, allows comprehensive performance. This research determined the level of knowledge of thesis tutor teachers and thesis students about the research methodology, during the 2022 period of the Dentistry career of the institution before mentioned. For this, online surveys were carried out in both populations, in order to quantify, identify and recognize the areas of greater and lesser knowledge of the subject. Only 20% of the students and 47% of the teachers agreed to participate in the study. The general results indicated an average of 9.7 points in students and 13.7 in teachers, out of a maximum attainable of 22 points. These results show the importance of tutoring and teaching guidance during the configuration of research projects, as well as the need to reinforce knowledge in both populations.
