dc.description.abstract	RESUMEN Objetivo: Evaluar la influencia de la adaptación al aparato protésico en el rendimiento masticatorio en pacientes rehabilitados con prótesis parcial removible. Material y método: Se seleccionaron 29 pacientes portadores de prótesis parcial removible antiguas, que fueron rehabilitados con nuevas prótesis parciales superior y/o inferior, por alumnos de pregrado de la Universidad Andrés Bello durante el año 2014. A cada paciente se le realizó el test de rendimiento masticatorio de Edlund y Lamm, con el que se obtuvo el porcentaje de RM. El test consistió en triturar una pastilla de silicona de condensación Optosil® Comfort® con 20 golpes masticatorios, en tres oportunidades: con el uso de prótesis antiguas; prótesis nuevas recién instaladas; prótesis adaptadas. El análisis estadístico comparativo fue realizado con el test de Anova y Tukey, mediante el software software SPSS v17.0. Resultados: El RM logrado con prótesis antiguas y prótesis nuevas recién instaladas, no presentan diferencias estadísticamente significativa (p>0.000). El RM obtenido con prótesis adaptadas muestra un aumento cercano al 100% por lo que estadísticamente existe una diferencia significativa (p<0.000) con los otros grupos de medición. Independiente del tipo de prótesis usado, de la edad y del género del paciente la adaptación aumenta el rendimiento masticatorio, lo que fue demostrado estadísticamente. Conclusión: La adaptación del paciente al aparato protésico aumenta el rendimiento masticatorio de manera estadísticamente significativa. dc.description.abstract	ABSTRACT Objective: Evaluate the influence of the adaptation to the prosthetic device in the masticatory performance in rehabilitated patients with partial removable prosthesis. Equipment and method: 29 old partial removable prosthesis patients bearers were selected, that had been rehabilitated with new upper and/or lower partial prosthesis by undergraduates of Universidad Andrés Bello during 2014. Each patient underwent the masticatory performance test by Edlund and Lamm to obtain the percentage of Masticatory performance (MP). The test consisted in crush an Optosil® Comfort® condensation silicone tablet with 20 masticatory strokes, 3 times using: old prosthesis, new installed prosthesis and adapted prosthesis. The comparative statistical analysis was carried out with the Anova and Tukey test using the Software SPSS v17.0. Results: The ME obtained with the old and new installed prosthesis, do not show statistically significant differences (p>0.000). The MP obtained with adapted prosthesis shows an increase close to 100%, so statistically there is a significant difference (p<0.000) with the others measuring groups. Independent of the used prosthesis, age and gender of the patient the adaptation increase the Masticatory Performance, which was demonstrated statistically.
