plataforma virtual Pubmed. La búsqueda abarcó las siguientes palabras clave:
“Odontogenic tumors”, “Malignant Odontogenic tumors” y “Ameloblastic
Carcinoma”.
Abstract: Ameloblastic Carcinoma is a malignant odontogenic tumor, which has a higher prevalence of appearance in the posterior area of the jaw, during the 2nd to 4th decade, both in men and women. For its diagnosis, in addition to the clinical manifestations, complementary tests such as radiographic images, histological and immunohistochemical tests are used. The objective of this study is to summarize and synthesize the evidence on the histopathology and prognosis of AC. Material and Method: An exploratory systematic review or Scoping Review was carried out, using the Pubmed virtual platform. The search covered the following keywords: “Odontogenic tumors”, “Malignant odontogenic tumors” and “Ameloblastic carcinoma”. Articles included between the years 2012 to 2022 were selected, with the application of the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Results: The search carried out on the virtual platform resulted in 181 studies, of which 15 met the inclusion criteria and research objectives. All the articles present reports of clinical cases, only one of them corresponds to a systematic review, and five to a review of the literature, while the rest corresponds to experimental research. Conclusion: The CA presents within its histopathology signs that the professional can carry out a correct diagnosis, however, it must always be accompanied by the clinical history and other complementary tests such as imaging and fundamentally histopathology. On the other hand, there is little information about the prognosis, but it is generally unfavorable for all patients; however, an even more unfavorable prognosis could be predicted when certain histopathological characteristics are investigated, such as the presence of clear cells, which, when present, indicate a worse life prognosis for the patient.
