The Dos de Enero ranch is a private area located in the community of Torres del Payne in Chile's 12th region of Magallanes and Chilean Antarctica. Also located just ten kilometers from the Dos de Enero ranch is Chile's Torres del Paine National Park. This national park is a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve because if its rich biodiversity and unparalleled natural beauty. Located inside the park is Explora's Hotel Salto Chico, which is dedicated to a special kind of tourism which allows its guests to explore the national park through different outdoor activities. Surrounding the national park are working livestock ranches, a Patagonian tradition from which the areas culture is derived. Explora, in an attempt to further immerse its guests in the local ways of the people, has a barbecue facility, also know as a quincho, which is located on private land adjoining the Dos de Enero ranch. In this area, Explora offers activities which allow the guests to explore the north-eastern sector of the park and pairs them which a barbecue lunch which showcases the gaucho culture and offers typical Chilean food. After the barbecue, guests are invited to participate in activities in either the national park or on Explora's prívate ranch. This study attempts to draw up an ecotourism product for the Dos de Enero ranch, which will allow Explora to further diversify the prívate sector activities it offers. In order to do this, I will first characterise the layout of the land of the Dos de Enero ranch, detailing in specific the activities that can be offered in the area of study. I will also identify the current and potential demand for this kind of product. Through the use of different methodologies in the area of study, I am able to propose six horseback rides and ti.ve h.iking trails. I have also provided for and focused on habitat recuperation as well as work with the local cornmunity. A detailed calculation of the costs of realising this product will be provided.
