obras indicadas.
ABSTRACT: The objective of this capstone paper is to present some specific examples of applications of expansion joints in seismically isolated buildings, to be presented to obtain the title of Construction Engineer by the Universidad Andrés Bello. This presentation has been developed through two consulting studies in which the student had direct leadership. The first project corresponds to a structural technical inspection (ITE) carried out on the expansion joints on the gap between fixed base and isolated base, and on the special facilities of Building Military Hospital de La Reina (HOSMIL), built by OHL Group, Chilean Division, and requested by the Chilean Army, Ministry of National Defense. During this experience, elements, technologies and review procedures where applied, which have served as reference for hospital projects subsequently implemented and other construction projects, both within the building and infrastructure market, and within the industrial and mining market. The second project corresponds to a consultancy on the design and the execution of dynamical testing on an expansion joint, for a server room cooling system for the Magnus II Building, built by the Santa Fe Construction Company. This consultancy was requested by the Instaplan company -specialized on systems-, and the qualification testings were carried out by the alumn on the Dynamical Testing Laboratory facilities, Structural Engineering, DICTUC, on the Catholic University of Chile. Both cases are related to projects undertaken by the engineering company SIRVE during the last phase of the construction of each of the aforementioned works.
