dc.description.abstractProblem in teaching practicum In our practicum, the current situation is the lack of speaking activities overall throughout the lesson since the focus tends to go towards writing and content-based learning. The absence of focus on speaking leads to certain problems for students such as shyness, insecurity and fear of being judged by others. We have noticed that these issues affect teenagers since the lack of regular practice makes it hard for them to gain confidence and improve their speaking skills. When creating a classroom environment that encourages speaking, we will be able to help students overcome their fears and master their communication skills. By addressing these kinds of issues language education will improve and students will feel prepared for real-life conversations. Why should speaking be fostered in diversified classrooms? Fostering speaking in diverse classrooms is important for several reasons. Firstly, it helps students share their cultural perspectives, promoting understanding and respect among their classmates. Secondly, it helps to improve fluency, confidence, it helps develop critical thinking, build social skills, and self-confidence, making students more comfortable in public speaking and teamwork. Lastly, encouraging everyone to speak ensures an inclusive environment where all students feel valued. According to Penny Ur (1996) “Of all the four skills (listening, speaking, reading and writing), speaking seem: intuitively the most important: people who know a language are referred to as 'speakers' of that language” (p.120). As this author mentions, speaking is one of the most important, yet most difficult skills to learn, that is why we have decided to research on this specific topic.
