Abstract
escolares
This research aims to analyse the perception of a selected group of second-year university students of the Musical Education career at Andrés Bello University. These students responded to musical stimuli in educational disciplinary areas, where a high rate of concentration and academic motivation is presented. The data collection technique was based on an interview with the group already mentioned in the field of Curriculum and evaluation, because it requires a high degree of concentration. The questions were focussed on the experience and perceptions presented in the activities to be carried out, which consisted of everything from previous experiences, to the feelings that could have been presented in each of the sessions, which were analysed to proceed with the results in a group and individual manner. The obtained results should not be generalized because each individual has their own unique perception, which changes depending on the sound stimuli i.e. in some cases the music could calm the individual down and -at the same time- unsettle other individual. The same happens regarding the ability of music enhancing concentration: while some particular musical genres might enhance some individuals’ concentration, the same musical genres might distract some others. It was possible to infer that, even though music does enhance concentration, we could also say that -depending on the musical genre and the particular kind of music- it can influence on the individuals either positively or negatively. Contributions can range from the creation of a relaxing environment, concentration and even comfort in the face of carrying out school activities
