Abstract
RMT.
Within the etiology of the pathology of the patellar misalignment (SDPF), has been described the muscle imbalance between the vastus medialis oblique (VMO), and the vastus lateralis {VL) quadriceps muscle, arnong which the literature describes several exercises which have been corroborated through electromyography, their results remain controversial. Toe objective of this study was to compare the electromyographic activation arnplitude between the vastus medialis obligue and the vastus lateralis of the quadriceps muscle using an exercise protocol. 19 subjects participated in this study, between August and October 2011, in aclinical approach study, descriptive, quasuexperimental. Toe subjects performed 3 exercises that corresponded to: semi-squat with hip adduction and knee flexion of 45 ° (SSQ-Ad), knee extension with medial rotation of the tibia (RMT) and knee extension with hip adduction and support unipodal (ER / CAd). Toe data were collected using surface electromyography. We used two statistical methods, the first student t-test to compare means of independent samples, with the objective of determine whether or not significant difference between the mean response of the VMO and VL activation to apply each of the exercises, the second ANOV A test, to determine which active exercises or not larger VL and VMO individually. Toe results indicated that there was no statistically significant difference between electromyographic activation of the VMO and the VL, notwithstanding the exercise that activates more VMO and VL the magnitude corresponds to the RMT.
