No existe diferencia estadísticamente
It is clear today to understand what happens with the student who enters the university system and is subjected from the beginning to a different, dizzying and intensive rate of study, totally different from the one lived in the last stages of school. The university student presents high levels of stress affecting the attentional state, which often harms the academic performance, which gives as a response a level of demotivation that can lead eventually to the student's abandonment by not supporting the pace involved in choosing the chosen career for own will. The purpose of this study is to identify some variables that may cause early abandonment by first year students of higher education, one of the most frequent variables being poor performance obtained in the course of one or more courses taken. This study was applied to students belonging to different careers of the Faculty of Medicine of the University Andrés Bello, Viña del Mar. The questionnaire "Mindful Attention Awareness Scale (MASS), was used to measure the level of attention presented by the student subjected to high demands and compare their results with the academic performance obtained at the end of the semester. Out of a total population of approximately 400 students belonging to the medical school, the descriptive study considered the data corresponding to 94 students. After applying the questionnaire and tabulating its results, it was shown that there is no statistically significant relationship between the variables of academic performance and the stress that the student presents at the end of the semester. There is no statistically significant difference between the four careers, the nutrition career has a greater variability in the distribution of the grades of their students than the rest of the races. The correlation coefficient of 9Pearson is -0.01, which shows a very low negative correlation between both variables.
