expuestos a cambios ambientales, experienciales y estresores.
sensibles y vulnerables a estĆmulos externos.
The RNPT admitted to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit are exposed to environmental, experiential and stressor changes. Considering their immaturity, and their limited ability to process and record sensory information, RNPT are very sensitive and vulnerable to external stimuli. Therefore, the organization of new brain connections depends on the care and stimuli received in hospitalization. It is essential to consider neuroprotection in the NICU, defined as a way to prevent neuronal damage or death, using strategies that promote adequate neurological development. Objectives: This narrative review seeks to answer which neuroprotective strategies are used in the NICU, setting out the description and organization of these, into categories to facilitate their understanding. Methodology: Selection of 10 articles related to neuroprotection according to the criteria of an expert, which were ordered in a table that describes the main results. Results: There are neuroprotective strategies aimed at sensory protection, the participation of the family and the health team. All focusing on improving the quality of life of RNPT. Conclusion: There is sufficient scientific evidence that supports the use of neuroprotective strategies to ensure a better quality of life for newborns. These can be used both by the health team and by the parents, considering the latter as fundamental support in the hospitalization of premature infants.
