Chile is characterized as a country with high seismic activity due to the subduction process of the Nazca plate under the South American plate, a clear example of this are the earthquakes of Maule Mw 8.8 (2010), Iquique Mw 8.1 (2014) and Illapel MW 8.3 (2015). Seismogenically, there is a close relationship between the magnitude and frequency with which these earthquakes occur, which is demonstrated by the Gutenberg-Richter Law. This law allows knowing the recurrence of earthquakes as well as the geological characterization of the study area. The parameter b of the Gutenberg-Richter Law represents the ratio between the number of large and small earthquakes. The seismicity of the areas of interest was obtained through the GCMT catalog and after this, through Bayesian Inference, temporary windows of the variations of the b-values were calculated prior to the three megathrust already mentioned. The results obtained show a temporal variation of b-value prior to l megathrusts.
