fenómeno a estudiar.
"GAME OVER to Prejudice: Elective Affinity and Conspiracy Mechanisms in a Chilean Gamer Community" is an exploratory investigation focused on observing how the phenomenon of discrimination manifests in a Chilean fighting game community, as well as the varied reactions from its members in response to this phenomenon. The goal is to prevent violent situations arising from political radicalization in gamer spaces, similar to those witnessed in other parts of the world. This research employed a qualitative methodology, where knowledge construction took place through the direct participation of those involved in the studied phenomenon. An ethnographic field observation was conducted at the competitive entertainment center "Dream Match," accompanied by interviews with gamers who participate and compete in this space. The research findings revealed a situation in which members of the gaming community are knowledgeable about the issue and are aware of discriminatory incidents within their environment. However, there is also an observation of the normalization of certain discriminatory behaviors, as these are considered inherent to the community by its own members. The phenomenon is characterized by sociological concepts such as conspiracy mechanisms and elective affinity, linking them to the duality that arises between the proactive attitude of certain members seeking a more inclusive community and the inaction in the face of everyday discriminatory situations. Ultimately, a reflection is presented, aiming to identify possible measures to make communities more aware of the issue and avoid becoming trapped in their own cycles of will of change and inaction. The objective is to promote a culture that encourages prevention and inclusion, contributing to the construction of healthier and more conscious gamer environments.
