dc.description.abstractIn the rapidly evolving field of education, fostering student engagement remains a cornerstone of effective teaching, particularly in English as a Foreign Language (EFL) classrooms. However, and despite its significance, student disengagement has been regarded as a challenge paired with low motivation and academic success. Research evidence shows that traditional form-focused methods of teaching only serve to compound the problem by creating a very monotonous-and-distant-from-students' lives learning environment (Sato, 2011). This study addresses this challenge by exploring innovative approaches to increase engagement through reflective journals and creative activities. These methods aim to promote metacognitive awareness, enabling students to reflect on their learning processes while actively participating in tasks that capture their interests. The primary aim is to examine the transformational nature of such approaches in the classroom environment in terms of emotional, cognitive, and behavioral engagement. In addition, this study attempts to scrutinize possible solutions and understand the broader repercussions that engagement hason students, the classroom environment, and the school community.
