El presente estudio analiza la evolución de la oferta .Y la demanda del chorito
chileno (Myitlus chilensis) en un período de treinta años, abarcando las diferentes
situaciones en las que se ha encontrado el mercado de la mitilicultura, partiendo mas bien
de un período basado en cultivos artesanales, hasta lo que es hoy en día la creciente
industria mitlicultora. El estudio incluye información histórica del cultivo de dicho recurso
y entrega información que permite analizar las fortalezas y debilidades productivas y
comerciales de las principales empresas mitilicultoras del país, asimismo permite establecer
resultados del los análisis de la información recopilada. El presente estudio permite
establecer oportunidades de mercado debidamente calificadas desde el punto de vista de su
potencial comercial y factibilidad de concreción.
Un punto de vista muy importante para el cultivo de Mytilus chilensis está dado por
la apertura de nuevos mercados internacionales, lo que exigirá un mayor desarrollo de los
procesos productivos y de comercialización de dicho recurso para satisfacer la creciente
demanda externa, es decir desde las mejoras en la infraestructura de cultivo hasta nuevas
presentaciones del producto, incorporando un mayor valor agregado.
En este estudio se proyectará un escenario para la producción nacional de Mytilus
chilensis, a fm de establecer cuáles serían los posibles requerimientos para un meJor
desarrollo de este tipo de cultivo, y también aprovechar el crecimiento esperado de la
demanda internacional, pues si esta sigue creciendo, las empresas de cultivo tendrán la
misión de satisfacerla aumentando los volúmenes de producción sin sacrificar la calidad del
producto. Es así como al mismo tiempo que se abren nuevos mercados, surgen nuevas
exigencias para los productos derivados del chorito, por lo que las empresas deberán velar
por mantener la calidad de la producción. Las perspectivas de crecimiento en la demanda
de este producto ameritan el análisis del presente estudio.
This report analyzes the evolution of Chilean chorito (Mytilus chilensis) offering and demand within a period of 30 years, including different situations that the market of chorito's culture has been facing; beginning from a time based on artisan cultures up to now; asan important growing activity. The report not only includes historical information of this resource but also provides information that will allow the analysis of the productive and commercial strengths and weaknesses of the principal chorito's culture centers of the country. It also establishes new market possibilities properly qualified from its potential and its future achievement possibilities. A very important view for the culture of the Mytilus chilensis is given by the opening of the new intemational markets demanding greater development of productive and marketing processes of this resource in order to satisfy increasing foreign demands by improving culture facilities to new presentations of the product incorporating a greater added value. This report will show a scenery for the national Mytilus chilensis production trying to establish wich would the possible requirements be for a better development ofthis sort of culture, and also taking advantages of the expected foreign demand, at the same time as it grows up; the culture company will have the mission to satisfy that demand by increasing the production volumes with no sacrifice ofthe product quality. Thus therefore; new markets get opened, new demands are bom in other derived products coming from chorito. This is the reason why companies must watch carefully over quality production. The increasing possibilities of the demand of this product deserve the analysis of this report.
