The general objective that persecutes this work is to define, to present and to evaluate the slurry seal like a pavements conservation technique. The slurry seal is a technique for maintenance or conservation secondary pavements that now is beginning to applied with more emphasis. The slurry seal was applied for the first time at the beginning of the decade of the' 30 in Germany, but its greater development took place mainly in the decade of the' 60, due to the appearance of equipment of continuous flow and to the advances in the technology of asphalt emulsions. The slurry seal is a mixture composed by asphalt emulsion of breaks slow, aggregates fine graduated good, water and filler mineral if it is necesary. If it is required to control the speed of breakage, it is possible to incorporate some additives. All this gives as turn out a mixture of creamy consistency, sufficiently fluid, able to seal and penetrate cracks and smaller defects. The principal objectives that must reach a slurry seal is to waterproofing and sealing the surface of the pavement; to protect and to rejuvenate the wom out and emaciated pavements; to recover the resistance to the sliding and to improve the conditions of reflectance of the pavement. This mixture is of easy application with a minimum of equipment, constituting at the present time and economic and effective means for the sealed one of aged pavements.
