Abstract

Globalization has an increasingly relevant influence on the development of the international economy. The constant increase in investment by companies that have industrial use structures for their operation is tangible at a glance. In Chile, it is estimated that spending in this area has risen by ten times its initial value compared to thirty years ago. The need to increase production capacity has generated increasingly important requirements in the area of structural calculation and has been somewhat demanding of national design criteria. A particular case is the NCh2369.Of2003 standard, which will then be in force for more than ten years, has entered an update process in order to adjust the specifications that improve the behavior of buildings in the event of seismic events and to objectify some stipulated aspects that are susceptible to interpretation. It is due to the latter that, in the following study, it seeks to identify the regulatory modifications that influence the design of an industrial structure with a crane bridge built in 1972. In this way, quantitatively evidence the differences and irregularities that they may find, to finally generate rehabilitation proposals that require extending the useful life of the building. In addition, it establishes a comparison between the criteria of the current regulations and the update through comparisons of specific parameters in different structural analyzes.
