Chile es un país envejecido demográficamente, lo que trae consigo la
necesidad de estudiar los distintos fenómenos asociados a esto, ya sea en el ámbito
social, económico, sanitario etc. En el ámbito de la salud encontramos la
Incontinencia Urinaria (IU), la cual es considerada como uno de los principales
síndromes geriátricos, condición que genera grandes repercusiones, que además de
modificar biológicamente a las personas, tiene efectos emocionales, psicológicos y
sociales, que alteran su calidad de vida.
Objetivo: Determinar la prevalencia y calidad de vida asociada a IU de dos clubes de
adultos mayores de la comuna de Lo Barnechea, medida a través del cuestionario
"International Consultation on Incontinence Questionnaire Short-Form "(ICIQ-SF).
Método y materiales: Estudio cuantitativo, transversal, de diseño observacional,
descriptivo. La recolección de datos se realizó en noviembre del 2016 e incluyó una
muestra de 46 sujetos. Se utilizó el cuestionario ICIQ-SF para la incontinencia
urinaria y la encuesta "European Quality of Life - Visual Analogue Scale" (EQV
AS) para la calidad de vida y condición de salud.
Resultados: La prevalencia es de 18 sujetos (39,1%), con un IC 95% entre 25,09% y
54,63%. En mujeres 15 de 36 (41,7%) y en hombres 3 de 10 (30%) presentaron IU.
En la encuesta EQ - VAS, en calidad de vida, los que presentan IU se obtuvo una
mediana de 7 (6 -8), y en condición de salud, los que presentan IU, se obtuvo una
mediana de 6 (5 -7).
Conclusión: La prevalencia total en la muestra es de 39,1 %. Al comparar los datos
entre los que presentan IU y los que no presentan IU, no se encontró diferencias
significativas, a excepción de las variables de polifarmacia y consumo de alcohol, que
presentan un p-value <0,005.
Background: Chile is a country aged demographically, what brings with it the necessity of study the differences phenomena associated with this, whether in the social, economic, health, etc. In the field of health, we found Urinary incontinence (UI) who is considered Iike one of the most principal geriatric syndromes, condition what does big repercussions, in addition to biologically modifying people, has emotional, psychological and social effects, which alter their quality oflife.
