The lack of adherence to pharmacological therapies in cardiovascular diseases such as hypertension is a global problem, which is manifested in a series of negative consequences such as increased morbidity and mortality, errors in diagnoses and treatments, increased healthcare costs and other patient-related issues. To correct this problem, various methods of measuring therapeutic adherence have been designed, classified as direct or indirect, which allow patients to be characterized as adherents or non-adherents. Objective: Determination of therapeutic adherence in hypertensive patients with comorbidity with diabetes mellitus and osteoarthritis treated at CESFAM Dr. Carlos Avendaño. Materials and methods: Observational, descriptive and cross-sectional study in which hypertensive patients with diabetes mellitus and osteoarthritis were identified as comorbidities treated at Cesfam Dr. Carlos Avendaño. Subsequently, the degree of therapeutic adherence was determined, by means of an indirect method such as the Morisky-Green-Levine test. These patients were mainly polymedicated due to their suffering from chronic diseases, negatively impacting the adherence, effectiveness and safety of their treatments. Conclusion: The intervention demonstrated that in the older the patients, a greater therapeutic adherence is observed. A large part of the population self-medicates due to lack of information and consumption of medicinal herbs. The application of Morisky-Green-Levine Test carried out by pharmaceutical chemists is effective in educating patients and correctly understanding their disease and the risk/benefit of their treatments.
